MiCannaCast is a Detroit-rooted cannabis podcast, media platform and community resource built to advocate, educate and inspire. Founded by native Detroiters CannaDave and Groovee in fall 2018, the show covers cannabis culture, Michigan industry news, strain reviews, product education, events, policy and the people pushing the community forward.
With more than 300 published episodes and new conversations every week, MiCannaCast is here for curious newcomers, experienced consumers, caregivers, creators, operators and industry professionals who want cannabis information that feels honest, useful and easy to understand.
Our goal is simple: help people learn the plant, discover better products and stories, support the culture responsibly and stay connected to what is happening in Michigan cannabis and beyond.
Our Story
MiCannaCast began with two lifelong friends who wanted cannabis conversations to feel more useful, honest and welcoming. CannaDave brought years of hands-on experience in Michigan’s medical cannabis community, while Groovee brought a background in audio production, technology and storytelling.
What started as a podcast has grown into a larger cannabis media platform covering interviews, strain guides, product reviews, event recaps, live shows and local community stories. The show is still grounded in the same idea it started with: ask better questions, share what we learn and make cannabis easier for people to understand.
MiCannaCast is not trying to sound like everyone else in cannabis media. We bring our own perspective from Detroit, Michigan events, real conversations, flower, concentrates, music, culture and the people we meet along the way.

CannaDave
Connoisseur
CannaDave is a longtime cannabis advocate, connoisseur and one of the driving voices behind MiCannaCast. His connection to the plant started long before legalization became mainstream, and that history shapes the way he talks about cannabis today: with respect for patients, growers, caregivers, consumers and the culture that built the movement.
Active in Michigan’s medical cannabis community since 2008, CannaDave brings firsthand caregiver, cultivation and product experience to conversations about strains, patient access, policy and responsible cannabis use. He is especially passionate about helping people understand genetics, terpenes, flavor, effects and what actually makes quality cannabis stand out beyond just THC numbers.
Dave is a flower-first consumer at heart. Give him a well-grown cultivar, a clean terp profile and a good joint, and that is where his favorite cannabis conversations usually start. That perspective shows up in MiCannaCast strain reviews, event recaps and interviews with growers because he is always looking for the story behind the flower.
Dave also brings award-winning flower experience to the table. He won the Hash Bash Cup three years in a row with Bangarang, a point of pride that speaks to his eye for cultivation, flavor and the details that separate memorable flower from everything else on the shelf.
On the show, Dave brings the curious consumer perspective. He asks the questions real people ask, shares honest reactions from events and product reviews, and keeps MiCannaCast focused on its mission to advocate, educate and inspire.
Groovee
Tech Aficionado
Groovee is an audiophile, producer and technology enthusiast who helps shape the sound, flow and creative direction of MiCannaCast. His role goes far beyond pressing record. He brings the technical ear, production mindset and steady energy that help each conversation feel natural, clear and easy to follow.
With a background in live audio, electronic music, recording and digital production, Groovee brings a creative perspective to the show and keeps its interviews, live streams and community conversations moving. He helps bridge cannabis culture with media, technology and storytelling so each episode can reach listeners wherever they are: YouTube, podcasts, social clips or live event coverage.
Groovee is also the concentrate guy in the room. He loves hash rosin, full melt, flavorful dabs and the gear culture around modern consumption, including devices like the Dr. Dabber. That passion helps MiCannaCast cover the solventless side of cannabis with more detail, curiosity and respect for the makers behind the work.
On MiCannaCast, Groovee brings balance to the conversation. He listens closely, keeps the show grounded, and helps turn industry interviews, strain discussions and event recaps into content that feels useful, entertaining and true to the community.
